The Subaru Crosstrek and the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport are great crossovers for families and daily commuters in Cherry Hill, Turnersville, and Mount Laurel. But when it comes time to buy a new car, which is best for you?
To help you decide, Prestige Subaru has created the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek vs. Mitsubishi Outlander Sport vehicle comparison below.
2016 Subaru Crosstrek vs. Mitsubishi Outlander Sport Technologies
The technologies in the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek are impressive to say the least. The vehicle comes with an advanced infotainment system that can pull up a navigation system and a selection of mobile apps for your entertainment and convenience.
This year's model also includes new available safety and security amenities, such as remote services and Automatic Collision Notification.
You'll also find an infotainment system inside the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport. But unlike the one in the Crosstrek, the system in the Outlander Sport doesn't provide access to mobile apps. It also doesn't allow you to add safety and security features for your peace of mind.
Comparing Safety
For safety, the 2016 Crosstrek includes EyeSight® technology. This suite of driver assist technologies has everything from Pre-Collision Warning and Braking Systems to Adaptive Cruise Control to help you avoid accidents while you're behind the wheel. On top of that, the Crosstrek was named a Top Safety Pick+ for 2016 by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport was also recognized by the IIHS, but it was only named a Top Safety Pick. In addition, this crossover lacks advanced driver assist safety technologies to ensure your protection.
Crosstrek vs. Outlander Sport Fuel Economy
Compared to the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is quite similar in terms of power, but the same can't be said for fuel economy.
The Outlander Sport gets up to an EPA-estimated 32 highway mpg, while the 2016 Crosstrek gets an EPA-estimated 34 highway mpg thanks to its Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission. With this, vehicle performance is optimized to be smoother and more efficient.
A Crosstrek Hybrid model is also available for added efficiency. The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport doesn't offer a Hybrid model.
Differing Capabilities
In terms of capabilities, the 2016 Crosstrek edges above the Outlander Sport with its standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. All models come equipped with this drivetrain to ensure stability and confidence when driving through adverse road conditions.
The Outlander Sport also comes with an all-wheel drivetrain, but it's only an available option so it's not offered in every model. Â
Which Crossover Is Best for You?
When you compare the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek and the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport, the Crosstrek provides more efficiency, safety, and capabilities you need when traveling through South Jersey.
