Compared to the 2016 Subaru Crosstrek, the Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is quite similar in terms of power, but the same can't be said for fuel economy.

The Outlander Sport gets up to an EPA-estimated 32 highway mpg, while the 2016 Crosstrek gets an EPA-estimated 34 highway mpg thanks to its Lineartronic® Continuously Variable Transmission. With this, vehicle performance is optimized to be smoother and more efficient.

A Crosstrek Hybrid model is also available for added efficiency. The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport doesn't offer a Hybrid model.

Differing Capabilities

In terms of capabilities, the 2016 Crosstrek edges above the Outlander Sport with its standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. All models come equipped with this drivetrain to ensure stability and confidence when driving through adverse road conditions.

The Outlander Sport also comes with an all-wheel drivetrain, but it's only an available option so it's not offered in every model.
