Subaru is synonymous with capability, thanks to its long history of off-road-ready crossovers, wagons, and sedans. The hottest new vehicle in their lineup is the 2019 Subaru Ascent, which promises more family-oriented options in an outdoor-ready crossover SUV.

Drivers in Turnersville, Cherry Hill, and Mount Laurel can learn what to expect from this new model with our 2019 Subaru Ascent preview.

Ascent Styling

The Ascent is a new take on this iconic brand, but it still shares the styling cues of the rest of the Subaru lineup. Similar to the Outback, the Ascent offers a taller, bigger body style with wagon proportions and a trapezoid-shaped grille.

Inside, the Ascent is geared toward families with its second-row bench seat and available captain's chairs, along with a more upscale overall design and plenty of additional creature comforts.

Subaru Ascent Engine Performance

The Ascent will be equipped with a 2.4L turbocharged flat-four that produces 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. This engine transfers power to all four wheels through a Continuously Variable Transmission that performs like a traditional automatic with simulated gear shifting.

With the standard all-wheel drive, 8.7 inches of ground clearance, low-end torque, and 4-wheel independent suspension, the Ascent can handle inclement weather or light off-roading, and can also be outfitted to tow up to 5,000 pounds.

This is a family-oriented vehicle above all else, however, so the Ascent promises sharp handling, precise steering and firm body control to ensure the ride is comfortable and smooth.

Interior Dimensions

The Ascent features three rows of plush seating that can accommodate eight people with plenty of head- and legroom. High-quality cloth seating or premium leather upholstery are available as well, along with tri-zone climate control, heated and ventilated front seats, and woodgrain interior accents.

For cargo space, the Ascent offers 17.8 cubic feet of cargo capacity with all rows upright, which opens to 86.5 cubic feet with the second row folded.

Subaru Safety

Like other Subaru models, the Ascent will have advanced safety features like Adaptive Cruise Control, Active Lane Control, Forward Collision Warning, and Automatic Emergency Braking standard, as well as a rearview camera. These features enhance the vehicle's safety by improving awareness and alerting the driver to a potential collision.

A forward-facing or rear-facing camera will be an optional upgrade, along with Blind-Spot Monitors and a head-up display, which offers driver information and media capabilities to the driver right on the windshield. This feature is designed to limit driver distraction and ensure that your eyes stay on the road ahead.
