Summer is approaching, so the time has come to cast off your winter garments and perhaps even some of your spring wear. And what better way to get rid of unused and unwanted items and aid those in need than to patronize a clothing donation site or a clothing drive? There are many clothing donation sites near Turnersville, and local charities and school programs host clothing drives throughout the year.
The Wayne Lions Club is accepting clothing in May and June. They're particularly hoping for socks, underwear, T-shirts, and gently used business clothing. Your donation will go to assist disabled veterans.
You can bring donations to the office of Hallock & Cammarota, LLP, at 600 Valley Road, Suite 101, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm or to the Farmers Insurance office at 1581 Route 23 South, Second Floor from 9 am to 5 pm. For more information, click here.
If you miss out on these clothing drives, try one of these other local options to repurpose your wardrobe:
Choices of the Heart, a thrift boutique centrally located at 132 Ganttown Road in Turnersville, accepts donations throughout the year between the hours of 10 am and 5 pm Monday through Thursday and 10 am to 6 pm Friday and Saturday. For more information, visit their website at choicesoftheheart.com.
Another excellent option for your wonderful wearables is the Goodwill donation center at 222 South White Horse Pike in Stratford, NJ, which is open Monday through Saturday between 9 am and 9 pm and Sunday between 10 am and 6 pm. If you have questions or concerns, you can call them at 856-566-0897 or find another Goodwill along your commute to work.
Catholic Charities has donation bins scattered from Manahawkin to Freehold. The nice thing about this organization is that they're unmanned and therefore open for donations at all hours of the day and night. They are, however, portable, and as such, the locations are subject to change. Catholic Charities keeps a list of donation bin locations on their webpage, which you can find here.
And if just donating is too low key for your philanthropic sensibilities, hosting your own clothing drive is a great way to give back to the community in a big way while purging your closet at the same time. If you choose to go this route, njclothingdrive.com can help you get started.
Here's to a summer of decluttered closets and helping those in need!
