Looking for family-friendly outdoor places to go this summer? Turnersville, NJ, and the surrounding cities have a wide variety of options. Check out some of these locations the next time you need to get the family out of the house.

Washington Lake Park at 626 Hurffville Crosskeys Road in Sewell, offers a little bit of everything. There are rustic paths, large green spaces, and picnic areas. In addition, you can enjoy a skate park open to skateboarding and inline skating. There's also an outdoor amphitheater that has movies and live events throughout the summer.

Don't forget your four-legged family member because there's a dog park here as well. It's open from 6 am to dark and is the only place in Washington Lake Park where your dog can go off leash.

James G. Atkinson Memorial Park at 138 Bethel Mill Road in Sewell is a family-oriented park featuring 66 acres of recreation space. There are softball and soccer fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, and trails for walking, running, or cycling. There are also playgrounds and picnic areas.

Ceres Park at Main Street/Alternate Route 553 in Mantua Township has a beautiful natural setting with all kinds of animal and bird species. You and your family can enjoy discovering the wildlife along the park's trail system, which transverses wetland forests and upland areas. Though it covers 52 acres, the park seems larger and more secluded as you become immersed in the local natural world. Print a trail map from the park's website and explore the fantastic ponds, which are stunning any time of the year.

Alcyon Park on West Holly Avenue in Pitman is a scenic neighborhood park along the Chestnut Branch of Mantua Creek in an easy-to-reach location. The lake is clean and beautiful, and the park supports ball fields, playgrounds, and picnic areas. Trails wind around the area through trees by an arboretum and wildflower meadows. In September and October, the butterflies are copious.

Timber Creek Park on Somerdale Road in Clementon is a 9-acre park with woods, trails, and a dog park bordered by Big Timber Creek. There are pavilions and an amphitheater where a wide variety of events take place.

No matter which park you choice to enjoy with your family this spring and summer, we don't doubt you will have a blast! Just don't forget your sunblock!
