What's New for 2021
The 2021 Ascent gets an upgrade for its standard adaptive cruise control system. New Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control integrates lane-centering technology, which helps control steering to keep you in the middle of the lane. Additionally, previously optional Steering-Responsive LED Headlights are now standard on all models.
Design and Interior Accommodations
On the outside, Ascent wears a rugged yet refined aesthetic, with a broad-shouldered stance, muscular sculpting, and bold front fascia. Standard raised roof rails provide extra cargo options, and the available power liftgate allows for easy access even with your arms full.
On the inside, Ascent offers an attractive and inviting cabin with high-quality materials and a wealth of standard and available amenities. Up to eight people can ride comfortably in the standard configuration, or seven with available second-row captain's chairs. Split-folding second and third rows provide versatile passenger/cargo arrangements, and with all seats folded, Ascent has a maximum cargo capacity of 86 cubic feet.
Performance
The Subaru Ascent provides swift and smooth acceleration with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. A continuously variable automatic transmission delivers power to the standard Symmetrical All-Wheel-Drive system. And with 8.7 inches of ground clearance and standard X-MODE traction and hill-descent controls, Ascent is all-season SUV that excels in dirt or snow. When properly equipped, Ascent can tow up to 5,000 pounds.
Tech and Safety
Ascent's STARLINK Multimedia system features Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with wireless pairing for seamless smartphone integration with the central touchscreen. And with available Remote Engine Start with Climate Control, you can use your smartphone to set the temperature ahead of time so that the cabin is comfortable when you're ready to go.
Standard on every Ascent, Subaru EyeSight® monitors traffic movement, keeps you from unintentionally swaying from your lane, and can automatically apply the brakes in an emergency situation. And all-new Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering can help mitigate driving fatigue by helping with steering, braking, and throttle control. Standard driver aids include:
- Pre Collision Braking
- Pre-Collision Throttle Management
- Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering
- Lane Departure and Sway Warning
- Lane Keep Assist
Premium, Limited, and Touring models come standard with Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert.
