You're almost home after a day that was just a little too long and a commute that had a little too much traffic when a light shows up on your BRZ dash. It's a new car, so it's the first time you've seen it, but you know that it hasn't shown up to tell you good job. Your mind probably starts racing as you think, "What on Earth does this light mean?"
Here at Prestige Subaru, located near Mount Laurel, Cherry Hill, and Turnersville, we created a Subaru BRZ dashboard light guide to provide a full explanation of the lights you might see pop up on your new BRZ dash. Not knowing what a warning sign can mean can cause lots of stress, so alleviate that tension by becoming familiar with your warning lights.
Red Signs
First and foremost, not all red signs are the be-all-end-all with your Subaru BRZ. The red lights, although intimidating, could mean something as simple as a door being open. It's important to understand what each of the symbols mean, though, as these lights ultimately mean that something requires immediate attention.   Â
- Seatbelt Warnings:Â Simply notifying you that someone's seatbelt isn't buckled. Â Â Â Â Â Â
- SRS Airbag System:Â A warning light for your airbag. Something could be malfunctioning with them and should be looked at by a professional immediately. Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Security Indicator Light:Â Just letting you know that you have a security system ready in your car. Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Door Open:Â A door is ajar and should be closed if the vehicle is in motion to maximize the safety of all passengers. Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Charge Warning:Â You just might need a charge or, worst-case scenario, you need a new battery. Visit Prestige Subaru to have your BRZ's battery examined. Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Oil Pressure Warning:Â You're low on oil, and there could be an oil leak, but either way it needs to be serviced.
Yellow Signs
The yellow signs that you could see on your dash are there to caution you. The low fuel sign is probably the most common of warning sign that might be seen. Others can include:Â Â
- ABS Warning:Â This is a warning regarding your anti-lock brake system, meaning that the system isn't working properly and needs to be serviced. Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Vehicle Dynamics:Â An icon of a car swerving means your Vehicle Dynamics Control is probably off and your tires can't acquire traction. Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Check Engine:Â It's time to get your engine serviced, as something could be going wrong. Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Tire Pressure:Â If you see an exclamation point that appears to be in what looks like a tea kettle, this is letting you know that the tire pressure in your car is low. Â Â Â Â Â Â
- Front Passenger Airbag:Â There are two signs regarding the front passenger airbag: one will say off and the other on. It's simply letting you know the status of the airbag.

See? Not all dashboard signs are created equal. There isn't always an immediate threat or a reason to be concerned in regards to the current warning that's appearing on your dashboard.
